5th of January – everyday life in the countryside

I could probably do an entire post just with photos of Rinker. He’s a wonderful little fella to have around and i do love taking his picture. A the moment he is lying on the desk beside me and my laptop on a pair of knitted slippers I took a photo of for the fibers on friday post from 5 days ago. he’s comfortable :-) So let’s blog a bit about country living (with a cat) and share some photos.

As I just said, Rinker sleeps most days- all day long… and he holds really still when he does that, and looks very soft and cuddly with a soft focus filter like this one.

If I go outside, he usually wants to come with me especially if I take a walk around the garden.

It’s been very wet and windy lately though so I spend a lot of time in front of the fire.

The wood burning stove is our main source of heat this winter.

Two thirds of the above wood is now gone! I have to go back to chopping quite soon, and then it will be stacking, drying and eventually lugging it into the house as well, wash, rinse, repeat…

The winter is by no means quieter than the summer months in regards to the physical work outside. It’s different, less gardening and instead more heating… but it’s still hard work. And all too soon I will have to go out to prepare the beds for springtime planting. The first of February is less than 4 weeks away!

I like the winter though. I like the quiet, short days, I enjoy the cloudy skies, and though our house is fierce drafty and cold in the westerly winds, I just love it when they tear at the house and rattle and shake it. I post some weahter photos soon, promise! Thank you very much for visiting. As always please leave a comment to let me know you called.

I’d also love to visit you. Seeing your days in snapshots makes me feel like I have a little window into some of how your days go. ((hugs))
