Week 8 – long run cut short

Tried a new route today. Found a wonderful road along the sea – would have been perfect except for that fact that it ended on another beautiful sandy beach and no apparent way off on the far end of it. So I got a wee bit lost, met two horses in the dunes and had to backtrack to the ‘main’ road. Met another runner who assured me there is a way off on the north end of the beach. I’ll look for it on my next outing maybe on the return leg.

At km 13 I started to get problems in my right knee so I cut the run short after 14. It’s only 4 week until HM race day.
Though this run was more downhill than uphill I still did 160 m ascent. Very happy with my overall pace especially cause 2 km were on the beach.

I think my knee problem might have something to do with me being in a deep squat for a good few hours weeding the poly tunnel yesterday. I will rest as much as possible and reduce my long runs down to make sure I’ll be able for the race. Plenty of work to be done working on cadence and technique.
