Another test run for the knee. I just went out to run with no great plan regarding distance or direction. At 4 km I had to choose at a junction and I decided to just keep on running and see how far my knee will let me. So I ran south and cut across the golf course at 8km to end up on my favourite trails in Courtown Woods.
I didn’t push the speed at all but really eased into the run always focusing on gait and cadence. The run across the golf course and through the trails in the woods was obviously slow, so my overall average is actually pretty good for me. I had plenty in me I really enjoyed every minute of it. I did another short circuit on the trails near the FC and just as I was getting off the gravel paths back onto tarmac I tripped over a stupid rock AGAIN!! Thankfully I only skint the palm of my hand and grazed the knee a tiny bit. But I’m furious!! Wtf?!?! It’s not so bad. It’s upsetting me though – I was cruising. I wasn’t even tired. I was on a stretch that was going downhill the surface was flat – except for one stupid, sticky out rock I managed to trip over.

It’s a bit of a bummer and rattles my chain. I reckon I’ll have a bruise or two but I don’t think it will affect my running. John asked me if I think it’s the MS. I don’t know and really, it doesn’t matter. It won’t stop me running. Maybe N is right, maybe it’s just safer to run on roads. That’s her answer to it anyway. She fell a couple of times too and decided trail running isn’t for her. D on Dm said it happened to her a couple of times too and she work really hard on her core since. Looking at the state of my hand I should really consider wearing gloves. I used to have these really nice cycling gloves. They were leather and cotton on top. I will see if I can pick up a pair like them again when in Berlin next week.

It pisses me off that I had to cut the run short because I was feeling so well and I really needed it as a training session before Potsdam. I’m not sure if I can squeeze another one in before. I will do another longish run on Sunday morning but then that’s it.
