full bloom

I’m amazed how the garden seems to manage to hold on to summer. Or better, somehow some of my plants are holding on and make the best of the good bit of sunshine we have. But there is no doubt, don’t be fooled, it is autumn, we had such severe frost last night that the entire countryside had a white coat and in a very real way it does start to feel like Christmas. But just for today, I enjoy the feeling of late summer I get from taking pictures of flowers in full bloom.

    I love this first shot!

It’s very definitely autumn here today, but last week we had several days that looked and felt more like summer, and on one of those I was out with the camera trying to capture the beauty. I love the deeper, bright colours of the flowers at this time of year – dahlias, fuchsias, nerine, but some of the paler colours, like this one, are still hanging on.
