21th of November – the colour of our soil

November 21st, 2010 at 20:55

I collected my pottery from the kiln today. Everything survived the firing. I’m thrilled and in awe to think these pieces were shaped out of our very own garden soil. And I am just gobsmacked to see how colourful the clay is now it’s fired. It’s nearly tangerine. The blue is the slip I tried. It looks very baby blue at the moment, I’m not sure that I like it very much. It’s made with white clay hence the bright colour. It should get darker once it get’s glazed which is what I’ll be doing next. There is only a very limited selection of glazes at my friends pottery so I’ll just have to wait and see. Wish me luck!
