7th of January 2011- clay pottery on the wheel

January 8th, 2011 at 11:07

I had great fun last night and am proud to be able to post this:

Is it a cup? A bowl? A flower pot?? Should I put a handle on it?? Or a whole at the bottom? It’s about 3 inches high and nearly the same in top diameter. Please let me know what you think this should be, could be.

In response to yesterdays post Tracy was kind enough to encourage me to tell about my socks, so here a photo of my sock.

If you want to read/follow the progress on the knitting front you can also visit forward tumbles fibers on friday posts.
Thank you for reading, hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Lovely pottery! For the first try, this is a fantastic outcome! To me it looks like the ideal flower pot. And due to my no-windowsill situation, I could just as well imagine it with handles for hanging them from the ceiling.

But whatever you decide on… it’s lovely.

:-) Thanks! It’s my second try… remember I did a bowl on Tuesday with conventional. I can’t take a photo of the first piece because I didn’t bring it home. But this is my first piece of pottery from my own clay.
I think it’s not really a flower pot because I’m not really into pot plants (I used to before I moved into the countryside… but that is eons ago…). Besides, I actually added a handle to it and for now I think it’s a cup.

    Happy New Year!

I think it would have made a great bowl (for storing important stuff on your desk) or flowerpot (I love flowers), but I’d love to see it now that it’s a cup.

I also wanted to inform you that you have been given a Stylish Blogger Award . It works like tag post. Just share 7 things about yourself and pay it forward to other 15 blogs that you like.

Here’s my post if you’re interested in playing along!

Thanks for all the inspiration that you’ve given me and the encouragement during AEDM.

I love this thrown pottery. Wow. It definitely looks like a flower pot to me, or a pot for moss, that is what I have in one of my pots. <–loves moss.

Hi Ines, Happy New Year! Well it looked like a flowerpot to me, but I note it is now a cup! Whatever it is, I’m very impressed indeed. The shape is so even and perfect. I remember you saying you wanted to try to use your own clay from the garden for pottery, and it seems you’ve succeeded. Well done!
