the practice of being creative everyday

birthday girl

January 29th, 2010 at 20:13

Yesterday a blog friend posted a birthday girl self portrait and she let me use it to draw. She is beautiful, it is an honour, thank you.

She has the most beautiful eyes with amazing long eyelashes. I tried to draw with charcoal first but it’s hard to draw delicate shades of fine features with a blunt piece of charcoal, so I switched to pencil. I did a small sketch on my 6″x4″ notepad.

It’s 8 p.m. here and hard to take a photograph of a pencil sketch on white paper.

I tried holding it up to the light and then take the picture… This close-up is bigger than the actual sketch… ah well. Maybe it’s time to finish up for today.*

*I deleted the images in last nights post because this morning in the brightness of day I was able to take a much better picture.
