18th of march – gardener’s touchstone

March 18th, 2011 at 12:34

While digging in the garden I found a rather roundish pebble, the kind that I would normally find on the beach. It’s an unusual kind of stone to find in my garden for all the pebbles I have would be ones I would have collected and brought up from the beach over the years. But this one was deep in the soil towards the back of the garden, I wonder how it got here.
I thought, I’d carve a swallow into it, looking forward to when they return, for they are the harbingers of the warmth that comes with summer in my part of the world.
