12th of November – a painting idea born out of a shadow

November 12th, 2011 at 9:12

I’ve been working in the garden a lot tying to make as much firewood as possible so that we can save on heating oil this winter. I usually work until the sun sets and then move indoors to get back to my art and other creative fun.
If the sun is shining it set’s just over the hedge behind the poly tunnel casting it’s last golden rays on the timber I’ve stacked up against that side of the house for it to dry in the sunshine.

I took this photo a couple of days ago.

The shadow looks as if I’m wearing a long evening dress with lots of frill at the bottom spreading out either side of my legs and ankles.

I imagine I’m wearing a silk, soft blue dress, as blue as the dark night sky. And so I had to just paint that, I guess, for I don’t own a dress like that in real life.
