the practice of being creative everyday

new project

Late last night after an entire day attending to admin stuff which stressed me, I resented having to do some of them because they were all >must do now’s< and I'm in a leasurely frame of mind, so it was in direct conflict with my wah... ok enough of the babble... I wanted to do creative things but had to attend to other stuff and it wasn't all bad. Anyway, I did this prompt Kara posted on her blog mother henna and as part of that I have decided to do something new today.

A wood carving. Wish me luck!

So, I thought I’ll let you take part in the creative process and post my progress in a series of images and possibly posts (depending how long it will take until I’ve worked this one out and move on to the next impulse/idea) I might be busy with this one for a while.

I did the exercise and then I did a doodle sketch of the scene of picking up the gift and putting it in the heart.

First I was going to draw an acrylic painting and looking for a canvas I moved some boxes around one of them being the driftwood box.

And then I changed my mind. I decided to carve “the gift” from a piece of driftwood. So without further delay, here the photos to go with the beginning of my project.

Carving driftwood no#1:

The workspace (will need a tidy-up before I start)

The selected piece of wood.

The tool I’m using first is a cheap kitchen knife (you can see it on the other picture) because that’s all I have at the moment.

That’s it for now. I’ll keep you posted.
