daily forward tumble

the practice of being creative everyday

finishing little projects

I’m in the process of tidying up my workplace. This is going rather sluggish, I’m not that dedicated to tidying jobs at the moment. But i do a bit everyday shifting the papers on my desk from one pile into another and occasionally I find something and get side tracked into more enjoyable activities.

I’ve repurposed a sketchbook I’ve half-hearted used as a notebook/diary (over the last 11 years no less) for my art. I now use it to stick some of the sketches I find while tidying my desk into it and take note of what I was thinking while doodling/sketching/painting. I’ve also been painting in it. The painting that featured in my last blog post is in there. So three days ago I found these two pencil sketches amongst the papers on my desk. They were done on a very simple, poor paper quality notepad I have, a good view months ago, and instead of finishing the tidy-up task I sat down and drew onto the pencil with colour pencil.

And the next day I attempted to continue my tidy-up and instead ended up working on the two sketches again. I coloured them in with water colour. It was a bit messy because the paper nearly dissolved when it was painted on with wet paint. But I’m happy with them and I like one of them so much, I decided to frame it and put it on our mantle piece in the living room.

hey Angie, this was one of the early ideas for the travel journal… but the boat idea didn’t make it at the time.
