working with my homemade paper

September 14th, 2010 at 19:43

I am in the process of experimenting with my homemade paper for an ATC swap I have going on at the moment.
This is ink on paper and then I varnished the body of the butterfly and the blank paper around it. The image is a little bit dull, the background is rather more yellow and warm.

Gorgeous. I love this and the dragonflies from the other day. They look like tattoos or cave drawings. They are stunning. BTW, any dia de los muertos swaps going?

    Thanks Angie!

is it time?? IF and that’s a capital if, Kara isn’t doing one,we gotta have one anyway. how, who, where??I suppose I don’t mind hosting one- oh I will eat my words. But I’m in little old Ireland and most people would have to send very international… hmm. I’ll write to Kara, see what she says.

I can host one. I don’t mind, if Kara doesn’t host one that is…I think she is going to be busy putting the show from last year’s participants together. I can announce it on still life 365. I am going to do October’s theme about holidays–dia de los muertos, Samhain, Halloween, All Soul’s Day…so maybe that would work?

I spoke to Kara and as far as I know she’s not going to do one this year. I think it would be fab, but I also think it is a lot of work and very tight for time. Are you sure you wanna take something on as big as that on top of everything else? It’s the actually unpacking, repacking post, office trips etc… think about it. I sure like the October theme. Samhain is mine! LOL

Just been looking through your recent posts, Ines. Like you I had a good deal of clutter following a very productive summer in terms of craft projects. It’s all cleared away now, thanks to preparations for a visitor from overseas! But one of my projects was papermaking, and my emphasis this time has been on making paper with natural materials embedded in it – calendular, rose, lavender, pot pourri, mint, and I still have some more petals ready for a couple more batches. (If you’d like to see it type ‘handmade paper’ in the search bar on my blog and it will appear.) I was wondering what to do with it all actually… Your ATC idea is something for me to ponder upon. Your dragonflies and this butterfly are beautiful. I see from the comments above that you have fully embraced ATC making!

Just stopped by from CED — your paintings and hand made paper are lovely. I’m partial to dragonflies and butterflies, so I think they’re beautiful :) I enjoyed popping around your blog a bit!

I thought it was a print, or a stencil. coz it looks to me like a bit of paper shows thru thye colour. Nice.
